KITCHEN REMODEL PART 1 THE SHOP

This tree needed to be moved because of its proximity to infrastructure

Our “go to” tree service, PARAGON of Tehachapi, is on the job

This 80 foot tree is topped and dropped perfectly, between two fence posts. Watching them work is like watching a precision drill team

The log is now trimmed, de-barked and prepped for milling

We can now cut the slabs intended for the counter tops

This beautiful pine is going to be perfect

This relatively green pine needs to be kiln dried and will take approximately 5 or 6 weeks to achieve 7-10% moisture content

The planks are secured and strapped with spacers for air flow, and set to dry. The stack is flipped and rotated once a week for even curing

KITCHEN COUNTERS/ISLAND CUSTOMERS’ PLAN

The pieces are chosen and rough-cut, showcasing the exposed live edge

The spacing for the dominos is marked

The sections are ready to be joined using Dominos for a strong invisible seam.

Clamps and braces are applied and set to dry

The counter top sections are assembled featuring the live edge

The process is repeated for all the various pieces

The grains are matched for an invisible seam

The glued and fully dried countertops are sanded and prepared for sealing.

The epoxy resin finish is applied to all parts

The premium stock for the river table has been selected and carefully aligned.

Mixing the Midnight Diamond Blue Resin

The customer has requested Midnight Diamond Blue for the island river

A plexiglass form is fashioned to contain the river channel

The initial deep pour fills the channel

A torch is used to remove the air bubbles

A top coat is applied to create a smooth, level surface.

The resin finish is water proof and easy to clean and maintain

The live and exposed edges are fully sealed by hand

Special attention is paid to the unique characteristics of the live edge

This will ensure long lasting beauty and durability

The wet sanding process helps ensure a uniform finish across the entire kitchen.

We now have a consistent finish for the counter tops and island

The process is repeated for the backsplash

Each piece was carefully chosen for uniform grain patterns.
