ABOUT OUR FIR SLABS

Fir live edge slabs are pieces of wood cut from fir trees that retain the natural edges of the tree trunk. Similar to other live edge slabs, they showcase the raw and organic beauty of the wood, with the bark and irregularities of the tree preserved along the outer edges. Fir, a softwood species, offers its unique characteristics and aesthetic appeal in the form of live edge slabs.

Fir live edge slabs often feature a light to medium brown color with a hint of reddish or yellowish tones, depending on the specific type of fir. The wood grain is typically straight, with occasional knots and natural patterns that contribute to its visual interest. The live edge aspect refers to the unfinished, natural edge of the wood, which contrasts with the smooth, planed surfaces.

Due to its relatively softer nature compared to hardwoods, fir is favored for its workability and affordability. Fir live edge slabs are commonly used in various woodworking projects, such as creating tabletops, countertops, shelves, mantels, and other furniture pieces. Their natural and rustic appearance adds character and warmth to any space.

Fir live edge slabs can be finished and sealed to enhance their durability and longevity. Proper treatment helps protect the wood from moisture, stains, and wear, ensuring that the slabs maintain their beauty over time. These slabs provide a connection to nature and bring a touch of organic charm to interior spaces, especially those seeking a rustic or natural aesthetic.
