This custom piece is more than just a desk; it’s a functional work of art that brings nature’s beauty into your workspace while showcasing superior craftsmanship and sustainable design.

Why This Oak Desk Stands Out

Designed as a made-to-order live edge office desk, this piece highlights the rich, timeless appeal of red oak with the natural contours of the wood preserved in every curve. The live edge detail brings organic warmth to any room, making this desk both a practical workspace and a stunning interior accent.

Here’s a closer look at what makes this desk special:

  • Premium Wood Species: Crafted from locally sourced, sustainably harvested red oak, known for its strength and beautiful grain.
  • Custom Dimensions: The original desk measured 96″ long × 30″ wide × 2.5″ thick, offering ample surface area for work and organization.
  • Handmade in Tehachapi: Built by skilled artisans in our California workshop, each desk reflects careful attention to detail.
  • Live Edge Aesthetics: The natural edge of the wood brings a sense of the outdoors indoors, with every piece uniquely shaped by the tree’s original form.

The Craftsmanship Process

The journey from tree to desk involves thoughtful craftsmanship and technical skill. From kiln drying and careful selection of boards to precision joinery and finishing, this desk is built to last:

  1. Seasoning & Kiln Drying: Oak boards are kiln dried to stabilize the wood and enhance durability.
  2. Joining & Dominos: Boards are aligned and joined using dominos at precise intervals for a seamless surface.
  3. Planing & Sanding: Surfaces are smoothed and refined for a flawless look.
  4. Routering & Flush Fit: Corners and seams are meticulously routed and matched for a tight, professional finish.
  5. Finish & Protection: A glass-like finish is applied, offering resistance to scratches and daily wear.
